The Turkish Military Academy is a four-year co-educational military academy located in the center of Ankara. Its mission is to develop cadets mentally and physically for service as commissioned officers in the Turkish Army. The academy was founded in 1834 in Istanbul. On September 25, 1936, the Military Academy was transferred to a new campus in Ankara. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, military hero and political reformist, is one of the most famous graduates.
Turkish Military Academy’s campus is situated in the city center of Ankara. As the capital city and as the second largest city in the country with the population of 5 million, Ankara is an ideal environment with its cultural and historical richness as well as social opportunities for those who will spend an academic life.
Since Ankara has 13 universities, the accommodation opportunities for the perspective incoming students are various. TMA is at the center of Ankara and transportation to and from the campus is extremely easy for the incoming personnel.
Specially equipped lecture rooms and laboratories support each academic section. There is a library providing a large number of books, CD and DVD collections and internet access.
We have qualified students, graduated from prestigious universities. The prospective incoming students and personnel can easily interact with this group of students and share a wide range of academic knowledge. There are many social facilities and cafeterias situated at different locations of the campus. TMA also provides sports opportunities on almost every Olympic branch.
There are close relations between TMA and other military academies. Continuous visits are paid to and from TMA. Therefore the Academy is willing to welcome and exchange students from different countries for the graduate program.
The medium of instruction is Turkish. However, at the Institute of Defense Sciences, lectures will be provided in English for the exchange students and/ or visiting scholars.
