MILITARY HISTORY

Purpose and Content

The Military History program in Turkish Military Academy Defence Sciences Institute offers an interdisciplinary graduate training which focuses on the study of military history. The main purpose of the program is to upskill the students in doing research on the historical archive texts within the frame of history science methodology; in understanding the content of Military History; in being acquainted with the Military History studies done in the world and in Turkey and doing new and authentic scientific research in these fields.

The Military History Graduate Program aims to make students learn the war concept conceptually from the first ages untill today and to carry out studies in the historical perspective; to carry out researches on the historical developments and changes in the weapons and equipments that were used by various societies, nations and states; to carry out researches on the main causes that affect the development and on the wars that constitutes the turning point of the change. Another aim is to inform students about important wars/excursions that took place in history, as well as the Turkish army corps since The Central Asian Turkish States; make students observe the wars in the strategic, operative and tactical levels in accordance with scientific methods.

The masters program with thesis was designed by gathering basic disciplinaries such as, history, literature, antropology, international relations, sociology and military strategy. The general purpose of the masters program withthesis is to raise personel who can especially follow the developments in Turkish Military History and Warfare History and who can reach information by doing scientific research, evaluate and interpret that information.

The Structure of the Program

Turkish Militry Academy Defence Sciences Institute Military History Masters program will be carried out according to the following principles.
